Every death on One Life leaves a mark on the world.
Death markers#
When a player dies, a player head with their skin is placed at the exact spot where they died. Stumble across one and you know someone's run ended there.
A player who logs out during a fight (combat log) drops their player head too, together with everything they were carrying.
What the head remembers#
Every death marker head remembers who died and how. Break the head and pick it up, then hover over it in your inventory to see:
| Line | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Died | The date and time they died (server time) |
| Cause | What killed them - the same as the death message in chat |
| Survived | How long they survived |
The head keeps this when you place it somewhere else and break it again - so you can keep it as a trophy or build a memorial with it. It also keeps it if the head is blown up or pushed by a piston.
NoteHeads from deaths before 8 October 2026 don't have this information. A combat-logged player's head is dropped as an item, so it doesn't have it either.
A dead player's Ender Chest#
Holding a dead player's head lets you claim what was in their Ender Chest when they died.
- Hold the dead player's head in your hand.
- Run
/deadenderchest. - A chest is placed right in front of you, filled with everything their Ender Chest held at the moment they died. Make sure there's a free spot in front of you first.
ImportantEach dead player's Ender Chest can only be claimed once - whoever gets there first takes it.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/deadenderchest | While holding a dead player's head, places a chest in front of you with their Ender Chest contents from when they died. |
