Combat Log

Logging out to escape a fight isn't an option on One Life. When players fight, both of them are in combat for a short time - and leaving the server during that time counts as a death.

How it works#

  1. Landing a real PvP hit - melee, or an arrow or other projectile shot by a player - puts both players in combat for 30 seconds.
  2. A countdown shows above your hotbar. Every new hit, from either side, resets it to 30 seconds.
  3. When the countdown ends, you're free to log out.
WarningLeaving while you're in combat eliminates you, exactly like dying. Everything you were carrying - inventory, armor and offhand - drops where you logged out, together with your player head.

When leaving doesn't count#

Combat logging is about choosing to run from a fight - so leaving only counts when it was your choice. You're not eliminated when:

  • 🧊 Your game froze - your character stood still and defenceless in the fight while you were still being attacked, until your connection dropped.
  • 🛡️ A staff member kicked you.
  • 🌐 Everyone lost connection at once - for example when the network goes down. Your items are kept and handed back when you rejoin.
  • 🔄 The server restarts or shuts down.

These still count, so don't try them:

  • Disconnecting, closing the game or crashing it on purpose.
  • Logging in from a second game to kick yourself out.
  • Being kicked by the server for flying, illegal moves or other cheating.
  • Switching to the Lobby.
TipDied to a frozen game anyway? You can always open a ticket to appeal.

Teammates and trusted players#

  • Teammates never put each other in combat - see Teams.
  • Trusted players - trust someone so an accidental hit you land on them (a stray splash potion or arrow) never starts a timer. /trust on its own opens a menu with the heads of everyone online: click someone and confirm. /untrust on its own shows everyone you trust, so you can remove them the same way.

Trust works from the attacker's side: if you trust someone, your hits on them never start a timer, but their hits on you still do - unless they trust you back.

CommandWhat it does
/trust [player]Your hits on this player won't start a combat-log timer. On its own it opens a menu with everyone online.
/untrust [player]Removes a player from your trusted list. On its own it shows everyone you trust.
