A Totem of Undying is the closest thing to a second life on One Life. Hold it in your hand (or offhand) when you take a killing blow and it saves you - it's used up, and you're left with a little health, Regeneration, Absorption and Fire Resistance.
ImportantA totem only works while you're holding it in your main hand or offhand - not in your inventory. Keep it in your offhand.
The easy way: raid farms (recommended)#
Totems are dropped by Evokers, and Evokers come with raids. A raid farm is a build next to a village or out on the ocean that starts raids and drops the raiders down so the fall damage leaves them on 1 hit - Evokers included. You finish each one off with a single hit while staying safely out of reach. It's by far the easiest way to get totems without risking your life, and you get plenty of emeralds on top.
Using a raid farm:
- Get Bad Omen by drinking an Ominous Bottle (raid captains - Pillagers carrying a banner - drop them).
- Go to the farm's trigger spot to start the raid.
- The raiders spawn and fall, landing on 1 hit - kill each one with a single hit from the farm's safe spot.
- Pick up the totems, emeralds and other loot they drop.

Other ways to get totems#
If you don't have a raid farm (yet), you can also get totems the risky way:
Woodland mansions#
Evokers live in woodland mansions - huge buildings in dark forests. A mansion can hold several Evokers, but it's also full of Vindicators that hit very hard.
- Bring good armor, a shield and lots of food.
- Light up rooms as you clear them so mobs don't respawn.
Fighting raids yourself#
Evokers also show up in village raids.
- Kill a raid captain (a Pillager carrying a banner) - it drops an Ominous Bottle.
- Drink the bottle to get Bad Omen, then walk into a village to start a raid.
- Defend the village through every wave. Evokers appear in the later waves.
WarningRaids get dangerous fast - Ravagers and Evokers can kill an unprepared player. Fight from cover and protect the villagers.
Fighting an Evoker#
- Evokers summon fangs from the ground and Vexes that fly through walls - keep moving.
- Kill the Evoker fast: the Vexes disappear after a while.
- A bow or crossbow lets you hit it from a distance.
