One Life Hardcore SMP has come a long way, and with this update, development on it from my side has concluded. π―οΈ From now on, any new additions to One Life Hardcore SMP will only be player-made additions.
That doesn't mean we're slowing down. Something new is comingβ¦ and you get to decide what it is. π
In this update:
- π³οΈ Vote for our next server
- π Idea 1: Semi Hardcore
- β οΈ Idea 2: Extreme Hardcore
- π οΈ Already underway on the new server
- π° One Lobby for both servers
- π New: look up anyone's stats with /stats <player>
- π New: safe, random arrival spots in the End
- π When it's coming
π³οΈ Vote for Our Next Server
We have two ideas for a brand-new server, but only one of them will happen. The poll below decides which one we build.
Development has actually already started, and we're aiming for a release in about 2 months, with a public play test before launch.
π Idea 1: Semi Hardcore
Hardcore, with a second chance.
- β³ Dying gives you a 2-week ban instead of a permanent one
- π Full custom generation for the Overworld, the Nether and the End, like we had before the One Life Hardcore reset
- β¨ A ton of additional custom features that don't fit the main One Life Hardcore server
β οΈ Idea 2: Extreme Hardcore
For the players who think One Life is too easy. π
- π No passive health regeneration at all
- β°οΈ Permanent death, just like One Life Hardcoreβ¦ with a revival system: a ritual or a crafting recipe to bring someone back
- π Full custom generation for the Overworld, the Nether and the End, like we had before the One Life Hardcore reset
π What Custom Generation Looks Like
Both ideas come with fully custom terrain. Remember what One Life looked like before the reset?

π οΈ Already Underway
Here's a little secret: we've already been working on it behind the scenes. π€« Whichever idea wins, the new server is already taking shape. It won't be ready for another 2 months or so, but this is what it starts with.
π The custom generation is back
- A fresh world with fully custom terrain in all three dimensions: the Overworld, the Nether and the End
- Updated to the newest Minecraft version, with our own custom Dappled Forest biome: an autumn forest of red, orange and yellow poplar trees, with leaf litter on the ground and abandoned camps to find
- We've been making sure every biome is in: all the vanilla biomes plus the custom ones, caves included

π§° Brought over from One Life Hardcore SMP
- π /stats with every stat and leaderboard, plus item stats on your gear
- π The /ol menu with every command you can use on the new server
- π Playtime ranks, earned fresh on the new server
- π Supporter ranks with their perks, shared with One Life Hardcore SMP
- π€ Teams, so you can survive together from day one
- π³οΈ /vote: every vote counts on both servers, and the vote announcements show up on both
- βοΈ Private messages with /msg and /reply, plus /ignore and /block
- π¬ /discord to grab our Discord invite
- ποΈ Proximity voice chat
- π Wills: leave last messages with /setwill, readable once you've died
- βοΈ Combat logging protection, with /trust for your friends
- π¦ /phantoms to turn phantoms off for yourself
- π The live tab list with your ping and the server stats, and scheduled restarts with an in-game countdown
- π Join and leave messages, and the server tips you know
- π± Bedrock players can join too
π§ And we're far from done: there are still a ton of updates coming to these plugins, mainly fresh descriptions and updated chat messages.
The death rules, and plenty of other game mechanics, are being left up to you: the community decides how the new server plays. π³οΈ The poll below is just the first one, with many more to come.
Which server should we build next?
Semi Hardcore
2-week death ban- Dying gives you a 2-week ban instead of a permanent one
- Full custom generation for the Overworld, the Nether and the End
- A ton of extra custom features
Extreme Hardcore
Permanent death- No passive health regeneration at all
- Permanent death, with a revival system (a ritual or crafting recipe)
- Full custom generation for the Overworld, the Nether and the End
π° One Lobby, Two Servers
Whichever idea wins, it runs next to One Life Hardcore SMP, and the Lobby is where you choose between them.
- π§ The Lobby becomes an interactive Lobby: explore it and pick which server you want to play, instead of being sent straight to the SMP
- π Playtime ranks are separate on each server: your progress from New to Immortal on One Life Hardcore stays there, and you earn your ranks fresh on the new server
- π Supporter ranks are shared: Rare, Epic and Mythic carry over to both servers, with all their perks
- π³οΈ Votes count on both servers: one vote gives you the Voter rank on both
π New: /stats <player>
Curious how someone else is doing? Type /stats followed by their name to open the same stats menu you already know, but for them.
- π Pick a category, just like your own /stats menu
- π Hover over a stat to see their position on the leaderboard and their value
- π¬ Click a stat to show it in chat
- π Stats someone has hidden with /stats off stay hidden
π New: Safe Arrivals in the End
No more getting trapped or killed the second you step through an End portal.
- π² Going into the End now drops you at a random safe spot around the main island, instead of the same obsidian platform every time
- 𧱠You'll always land on solid ground with room to stand, never on obsidian or bedrock
- π Every spot is checked the moment you arrive: no dug-out holes, no traps, nothing dangerous next to you, and never right next to another player
- π‘οΈ Nobody can camp the entrance anymore, because nobody knows where you'll appear
π What Happens Next
Once the poll closes, we start building the winner. Keep an eye on the Discord and this News page for the play test announcement.
See you out thereβ¦ π―οΈ
