A smaller update this time, but one you'll notice every time you play. Everything the server says to you in chat got a cleanup, our Discord bot learned a few new tricks, and the website now has proper Terms of Service and Privacy Policy pages. π§Ή
In this update:
- π³οΈ There's still time to vote for our next server
- ποΈ New server: what's new since last time
- π¬ 235 in-game messages rewritten
- π¨ A new look for chat
- π€ Discord bot: slash commands and a live status
- π Terms of Service & Privacy Policy
- π§ Smaller changes
π³οΈ Still Time to Vote: Our Next Server
Haven't voted yet? The poll for our next server is still open. It's the same poll as in our last update, so if you already voted there, your vote is already counted. You can still change it here.
- π Semi Hardcore: a 2-week ban when you die instead of a permanent one, full custom generation, and a ton of extra custom features
- β οΈ Extreme Hardcore: no passive health regeneration and permanent death, with a revival system to bring someone back
Which server should we build next?
Semi Hardcore
2-week death ban- Dying gives you a 2-week ban instead of a permanent one
- Full custom generation for the Overworld, the Nether and the End
- A ton of extra custom features
Extreme Hardcore
Permanent death- No passive health regeneration at all
- Permanent death, with a revival system (a ritual or crafting recipe)
- Full custom generation for the Overworld, the Nether and the End
ποΈ New Server: What's New Since Last Time
Work on the new server keeps going behind the scenes. Here's what was added since the last update:
- πΊοΈ Support for Xaero's Minimap and World Map, just like on One Life Hardcore SMP
- π¬ The new server also gets the chat cleanup from this update
π¬ 235 In-Game Messages Rewritten
We went through every message our plugins send you: command replies, server tips, restart warnings, death announcements, kick screens and more. 235 of them have been rewritten to be shorter and easier to read.
- βοΈ Shorter: one clear sentence instead of a paragraph explaining how the plugin works behind the scenes
- π Consistent: the same thing is now always said the same way. There used to be 9 different versions of "only players can use this"!
- π One appeal link: every death, ban and kick screen now points to onelifehardcore.net/tickets
- π οΈ A few small fixes along the way, like the death screen title and a typo on the partner servers list

π¨ A New Look for Chat
Chat now uses custom colours that match the website and your rank tags, instead of only Minecraft's 16 default colours.
- π Server announcements get a coloured label with a gradient, like TIP Β», VOTE Β», TEAMS Β» and RESTART Β»
- π¦ Colours mean the same thing everywhere: red means something didn't work, green means it did, grey is info, and white is names and values
- βοΈ The combat timer on your action bar now simply reads β In combat 12s
- π Reaching a new playtime rank now gets its own RANK UP Β» message
π€ Our Discord Bot Got an Upgrade
- β The bot now shows Do Not Disturb with a live status that rotates between how many players are surviving, how many deaths there have been so far, and a /playerlist reminder
- β‘ New slash commands:
- /playerlist shows who's online right now
- /ip shows how to join, on Java and Bedrock
- /status shows players online, TPS and total deaths
- π The slash commands also work in your team's own Discord server, if you've added the bot for team chat
Typing "playerlist" in chat still works too.
π Terms of Service & Privacy Policy
The website now has proper legal pages for both the website and our Discord bot. You can always find them in the footer of every page. Please give them a read, they're written to be easy to follow.
π§ Smaller Changes
- β οΈ When someone dies, chat now shows only the death announcement and their survival time. The extra vanilla death line underneath is gone
- π Cleaner join and leave lines, and a gold "joined for the first time!" line to welcome new players
- β‘ One Life Hardcore SMP now uses more of the server's CPU for loading chunks and world work, for a smoother experience
- π The Lobby's elimination screens now point to onelifehardcore.net/tickets for appeals, like everywhere else
If something reads strangely or you spot a mistake in one of the new messages, let us know on Discord or open a ticket. π
